Any time you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular provider. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that deals with the emails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the e-mail hosting are generally regarded as one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having independent records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you would like. As an illustration, some new service provider might have superb uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a site or send an email - in any case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed website or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared plan from our company, you will be able to view, set up and modify any A or MX record for your domains. As long as a specific domain name has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to change certain records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails directed to another provider if you want to use only one of our services. Our advanced tool will even enable you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain at all. If you decide to use the e-mail services of another provider and they want you to set up more than two MX records, you can easily do this with just a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, allows you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if needed, to update any of them or set up new ones. Controlling these records is very easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our video tutorials on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you 100 % control of all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're pointing your emails to a different company and they ask you to set up more than 2 different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
